    About Sophie:

After graduating from the University of Washington’s Masters of Science in Nutrition program, Sophie has been a practicing registered dietitian for just under a decade and is currently with Rooted Nutrition Counseling in downtown Spokane. Starting her career in Sacred Heart’s adult ICU units launched a love of interdisciplinary work and a team approach to whole human health. Dietetics was a “second career” for Sophie after working as a program manager in the nonprofit sector for Washington agriculture and food access, and eventually purely clinical work left her wanting to do more. An opportunity arose to try her hand at management and she ended up steering Eastern Washington’s Providence hospitals' RD teams through the pandemic as the regional Clinical Nutrition Manager for Sacred Heart, Holy Family, and Stevens County hospitals. Missing direct patient care, she left Providence to join Rooted in 2022 and finally feels at home juggling the ins and outs of a group private practice while pursuing the same whole person approach she has tried to maintain throughout her career. If there is one common thread across all of the many hats she has worn, it is a passion for helping people find the right tools to thrive.

A “non-diet” and HAES practitioner, she currently works with clients on a variety of diagnoses from disordered eating to chronic disease management. When not in the office, Sophie can be found playing with her toddler, cooking, gardening, hiking, swimming in salt water and enjoying friends and family.

    About Jlyn:

Jlyn Pritchard, DO has a small gaggle of kids, a handful of lovingly tended acres with a thrice-failed garden, a membership-based micropractice, & a couple of board-certifications to make it all official.

But the truth is that she is passionate about helping people find their pathway to feeling their best.

With thousands of patients as teachers & hundreds of hours of reading, she's honed in on a couple of niches that have built the foundation of her integrative Medicine practice. Blasting past the popular trends, she's passionate about helping patients reach their fullest potential through teaching, physiology, & the gift of time.

As an Osteopathic Physician, she also practices osteopathic manual therapy. It's been three years since Thread Health was born--focusing on restoring primary care to what it should have been all along: empathetic & confident care.

Breakout Session - Postpartum Healing: Understanding and Supporting the Body After Birth

    Description:

This breakout session, led by experienced physical therapist Laura Nice, explores the often-overlooked journey of postpartum healing—grounded in the understanding that once postpartum, always postpartum. Whether you're weeks, months, or years past childbirth, this session will shed light on how pregnancy and birth can impact your body long-term—and what you can do about it.

We’ll dive into common postpartum concerns like pelvic floor dysfunction, diastasis recti, incontinence, and core weakness, and help clarify what’s common versus what’s normal. You’ll learn what the "core" actually is, how it functions, and how to properly train and support it after pregnancy.

But this session goes beyond the basics—Laura will also discuss how symptoms like back pain, headaches, or shoulder tension may have roots in pregnancy or birth-related changes. You’ll gain insight into the musculoskeletal and functional changes that occur postpartum and understand how unaddressed issues can affect your long-term health, movement, and quality of life.

Most importantly, you’ll leave with empowering, practical strategies to enhance your healing, build strength, and support your whole-body wellness—so you can continue to show up as your best self in motherhood and beyond.

    About Laura:

Laura is a physical therapist with over 10 years of experience, specializing in women’s health and orthopedic rehabilitation. Her diverse clinical background includes working with recreational athletes and serving as a PT for a professional dance company. She brings a unique, holistic approach to care by integrating her training as a comprehensively certified Polestar Pilates instructor, manual therapist, yoga instructor, and certified lymphatic therapist.

Laura’s passion is supporting women throughout the lifespan, with a special focus on the perinatal period. She believes physical therapy can play a vital role in preparing the body for a smoother birth, promoting faster postpartum recovery, and preventing issues that often arise later in life—such as pelvic floor dysfunction, diastasis recti, or chronic pain. Her experience includes volunteering as a physical therapist in Haiti, serving at a free clinic in Salt Lake City for individuals living below the poverty line, and assisting adaptive ski programs for people with disabilities.

She is passionate about providing an integrative, person-centered approach to elevate women’s health and address concerns that are too often overlooked or dismissed.
